Hotel review: Mandarin Oriental Jumeira Dubai

Mandarin Oriental Jumeira Dubai hotel review

I just came back from Dubai. It was my first time and I really liked the city. But I have to share with you my impression of the Mandarin Oriental Jumeira Dubai where we stayed. The hotel opened in February this year and you can still smell the novelty from the wood and fabrics used to decorate it.

It is right on the Jumeira beach. It takes about 20 minutes from the Dubai airport and about 15 minutes to downtown, Burj Khalifa and Dubai mall. If you want to go to The Palm, it will take you about 25 to 30 minutes.

Mandarin Oriental Jumeira design

Mandarin Oriental hotels are always very elegant, modern and slick. But I mast say, this one is absolutely gorgeous. The entrance is filled with an ally of impressive bronze trees with glass leaves. Each leaf is hand blown from Bohemia crystal and is filled with lights and there are over 900 lights on each tree. It makes this lobby unique and one of the most impressive I have ever seen anywhere. The most beautiful part of this is how the light changes during the day and especially at the sunset.Mandarin Oriental Jumeira Dubai lobby Mandarin Oriental Jumeira Dubai lobby bronze trees

We have stayed in the deluxe room with partial sea view on the top floor. The spacious room had its own seating area and a little terrace with a beautiful view of a swimming pool and the Jumeira beach. The bathroom, full of mirrors, had a luxurious Spanish cosmetic Natura Bisse and its own dressing table.Mandarin Oriental Jumeira Dubai deluxe room Mandarin Oriental Dubai hotel deluxe roomMandarin Oriental Dubai Jumeira bathroom Natura Bisse cosmetics in Mandarin Oriental Jumeira Dubai

Facilities

Four swimming pools in a private backyard with a direct access to a semi private beach is one of the highlights. With the possibility of having lunch of grilled prawns or ceviche and a refreshing coconut water with lemon and mint, this place makes is ideal place to spend your days when the temperatures reaches 40C.Mandarin Oriental Jumeira Dubai swimming pool Mandarin Oriental Dubai swimming pool area

The gym is many time larger than your ordinary hotel gym. Probably because the hotel has over 170 rooms and over 70 suits so it is big enough for many hotel guests at the same time. I must say, when you have an amazing gym like this, morning workouts are far much more enjoyable, for sure.Mandarin Oriental Jumeira Dubai gym

Spa in Mandarin Oriental Jumeira is good and I enjoyed wonderful massage, however the design is lacking a bit of a warm feeling. Maybe lack of candles or scents? I am not sure. While my massage was great, the menu was slightly un-imaginary and short. I also used the hairdresser and for a cut and a blow dry and would go back there anytime. I was very happy with the result.

Restaurants

There are 6 restaurants in Mandarin Oriental Jumeira. As we have visited Dubai during we have only tried two of them and they were both excellent. The breakfast is as good as it can be with both buffet and prepared on order choices and they all are delicious choices. The pool bar restaurant serves simple food that, however, doesn’t in any way compromise on quality and taste. My favourite were the char grilled prawns with guacamole which was my ideal lunch. There is also a Portuguese restaurant and Japanese steakhouse. Both were closed during the day because of Ramadan though. One think that was slightly disappointing was a hotel bar. There wasn’t a great place to have a drink after dinner. Beluga bar at the ground floor has a gorgeous white and gold design but it feels more like an afternoon bar, rather then an evening place. The first floor bar looked a bit to modern with a strange red light. Restaurants at Mandarin Oriental Jumeira Dubai

All the staff were extremely helpful and friendly at all parts of the hotel. The checking in happened in the room, which was so pleasant, provided I arrived to the hotel almost at midnight. I was very impressed that most staff always addressed me by my name. In a hotel of this size, I think that is very unusual and is a great sign of impeccable training and coordination.Mandarin Oriental Jumeira Dubai interior Mandarin Oriental Dubai interiors

Would I go back?

You can probably guess, after reading this review that I would. In fact I think it is one of the best hotels I ever been to. Completely opposite style to Villa Feltrinelli, which is my favourite hotel in the world, but I really think Mandarin Oriental Jumeira Dubai is absolutely amazing. The design, food or service, everything is just perfect. I think I wouldn’t hurry to stay anywhere else in Dubai and I can’t wait to go back soon.Sunset at Mandarin Oriental Jumeira Dubai
