Hotel review: Hotel Eden Rome Dorchester collection

We just came back from beautiful Rome. It was a completely secret long weekend I prepared to surprise my husband. The city is full of amazing hotels, but I have chosen Hotel Eden Rome from the Dorchester Collection, as it was opened after refurbishment 2 years ago. Naturally, I couldn’t help but share our experience in this review.Hotel Eden Rome Dorchester collection hotel review

Location of the Hotel

Hotel Eden Rome is located about 45 minutes from Fuimicino airport by car. It takes about 8 min walk to Spanish steps and 15 min to Villa Borghese gallery, which is in the nearby park. If you want to explore all the big monuments, it will take you about 10 min to Fountain Trevi, 15 min to Pantheon and about 20 or 25 min to Colosseum. So as you can see, you can walk pretty much everywhere, which is particularly helpful, as the Uber doesn’t quite work.

Design

The entrance and the lobby were the most impressive part of the Hotel Eden Rome. It surprised me, how small it actually is with less then 100 rooms. The lounge on the ground floor was beautifully plush with velvet sofas and antique style mirrors. Even the ceiling was gorgeous and elaborated. As this is a historic building, it might have been even the original one. It was as good as the hotel lounge or bar could be. Luxurious, traditional and comfortable at the same time.Library at the Hotel Eden Rome Dorchester Collection hotel review Hotel review Hotel Eden Rome Dorchester collection Library interior at the hotel Eden Rome Interior design at the hotel Eden Rome Dorchester Collection

Seeing how ground floor was decorated, I was slightly surprised how simple and contemporary was the top floor, where the breakfast room and the main restaurant La Terrazza was. It was pretty, but completely different style, as if you suddenly appear in different, much more modern and perhaps cheaper hotel. Nevertheless, the views were spectacular.

Our room was more on the smaller size, but that didn’t matter, as it was very comfortable and pretty. Attention to the detail was apparent everywhere. The speakers to connect your devices was a nice touch as well as the bottle of wine at our arrival and signature dishes from all Dorchester collection hotels around the world in the room service menu. The bathroom was designed with combination of white marble and gold taps which added to the luxurious feel. As a perfect touch, the amenities were by Bottega Veneta.Rooms at the Hotel Eden Rome Dorchester collection

Restaurants and food in Hotel Eden Rome

There are two restaurants in the hotel, both on the top floor with gorgeous view. Il Giardino restaurant was the more informal of the two, where you could enjoy food all day long. You can also just come for a coffee or drink after dinner in the connected bar. The food was amazing. Breakfast was pretty standard with buffet and made to order options, but all the ingredients were high quality.

The lunch was outstanding, or at least what we tried. My Spaghettoni Carbonara was probably the best I ever had. My husband had Penne Amatriciana and even though this one is not my favourite, it was quite amazing. We didn’t try the more formal one La Terrazza. I thought the design was a bit too contemporary for my taste and it didn’t feel like a place for a romantic dinner for two. However, judging by all he food we ate in the hotel, I am sure the food would be exquisite.

Facilities

There is a fairly small, but perfectly nice and pleasant gym and a spa. I haven’t tried the spa this time, as our stay was fairly short and preferred to have nice walks in the sun. However The menu offers extensive and interesting list of treatments, including osteopathy. Unfortunately there is no swimming pool, which we would have loved to use in such gorgeous weather, but during summer, the hotel guests will be able to use the nearby Roma Polo Club.

Service at the Hotel Eden Rome

The service is something that made our stay special and unforgettable. From the moment I was booking the restaurants and city guide by emailing the concierge 2 months in advance by the time we left to go home, the service was impeccable. There are different levels of the great service, but the fact I got help carrying my one small plate of fruit to my table at the breakfast, just so that I am more comfortable, is quite amazing. Sometimes in the hotels, the service can be very professional and helpful, but in Hotel Eden Rome I feel like they really go the extra mile for you. Everyone was extremely helpful and friendly. Even when we asked for a taxi to start our guided city tour, we were offered a ride in their Rolls Royce instead of using taxi. That was very unexpected and great experience.

Would I go back?

Absolutely, definitely yes. As I said before, Hotel Eden is not a cheap hotel, but you get the of the best of everything. So I can’t recommend it more.
