Year 2017, the end of the first year of full time blogging

It is the end of the year again and I can’t believe how fast it came. Year 2017 was a bit of rollecoaster, at least when it comes to my blog. There were highs and lows and I am grateful for both. For me, highlights are the moments which encourage and motivate me enormously to continue doing what I am doing. It is my reassurance i do something right. Of course there were not only highlights but also some setbacks and wrong decisions as well. Those were the moments of learning, evaluation and moving froward. Like the great song from Frank Sinatra says: “Each time when I find myself flat on my face, I pick myself up and get back in the race…” (That’s life, Frank Sinatra).

Year 2017 highlights

My biggest highlight of this year is that I could start blogging full time. And full time it really is. I am the photo editor, photographer (or work with one), model, writer, stylist, project manager, social media manager, PR, finance manager etc. So it is not as glamorous as it sounds. It a hard work, but the one that I am very passionate about. And I call it a luxury to be able to have a job that is my hobby as well. and it is you, my readers, that makes this all worth it. That is what motivates me and drives me further.

Year 2017 learning

Of course it is not only all fun and sometimes there are setbacks, but that’s fine. It is way how you deal with a setback that is important. I have for example realised that I spent a huge amount of money when I started blogging on things that were either not important or it were the results of bad decisions. I started this blog as purely designer handbags oriented under a different name and spent a lot of money on promotions. But then I realised i want this to be much more than just handbags. I changed the name, lost some followers, but that will not stop me to pursue what I want this to become. I spent a lot of money on the website development (it didn’t work and had technical issues on daily basis) only to later completely change it to a Pipdig theme.

So year later, I am still learning and that is also another thing I love. An I want to thank you for your ongoing support and looking forward to continuing this journey with you in 2018.

And if you are wandering why I am putting here pictures from Christmas, it is because it is the most wonderful time of the year and the perfect end of the year 2017.

wishing you all the best in 2018

love

Petra
