Since few years ago I started to pay attention to Gucci far much more. Before, it wasn’t my cup of tea, however since Alessando Michele took the rein, there isn’t much Gucci can’t do well. Season after season, Gucci handbags are the talks of town and I love the new direction. the newest Gucci bags have yet again the element of old and new and the combination seems to be working beautifully. Among the newest Gucci handbags are Gucci Arli and Gucci Rajah, but also Gucci Rebelle and new version of Gucci Marmont. In this post I will only focus on the new Gucci Rajah bag. However I will make another post where you can discover other new Gucci handbags.
Gucci Rajah bag
Let’s first start with the design of the new Gucci Rajah bag. Personally I thing this is the best bag of the new collection. It combines two of the traditional elements of Gucci into a hybrid one. The Horsebit and the Interlocking G. It sounds like it can’t work, but it does and it looks like modern vintage (if such word combination exists). Underneath is a gold metal head of a tiger, embellished with sparkling crystals and coloured enamel. It is a reminiscent of a vintage brooch by Hattie Carnegie—famous jewellery and fashion designer in the 1920s-1950s (see on the right). The clutch and large tote bag versions of this bag features only the tiger head, without the double G and horsebit.
Gucci Rajah shoulder bag and clutch
Gucci Rajah shoulder bag comes in few different versions including precious skin. The crocodile version will cost you over £15,000 and is only available for pre-order. Python skin version will cost more like £3,218 (price may vary). The leather version is more affordable with the price tag of £2,230 and the python clutch in purple cost £1,420. With the comfortable size of W27cm x H17cm x D6.5cm it can be worn day or night, dressed up or down. You can wear it as a shoulder bag or as a cross body. My favourite version is, apart of the crocodile version in mint colour, is the white leather piece. I think it is super stylish can be worn all year round. It also comes in burgundy, bottle green or black.
Gucci Rajah tote
There is also a large tote version with the embellished crocodile head. I think the above shoulder bags are a bit nicer, however I believe the large tote is worth including. The Gucci Rajah tote comes in few different versions and the size is W45cm x L35cm x D6cm. As all the Gucci Rajah bags, this one is also quite narrow, but the size makes it more convenient for the day. It also comes with a small detachable pouch with zipper closure. Ideal for your valuables.
