I love the kind of outfits that look chic, simple and are easy to create. The other day I was thinking what makes an outfit chic and elegant. What are the commonalities between all the chic looks? You know what I mean. The kind of look when you look like you haven’t tried much, but the result is chic. So this post is all about how to create simple and chic look by following 4 key tips.
How to create chic look
- Pay attention to the fabric of every piece you are wearing. For me, fabric is the most important thing. You can have a great design, but if the fabric is cheap looking, or low quality, it will show. It shows even more when it comes to dresses or skirts.
- Colours are very individual and what suits one person, doesn’t need to suit other. However, I think neutral colours look always the best. White, beige or grey and their shades look amazing almost on everyone. You just need to find the combination of neutral colours that suits your skin tone.
- To create chic look with not much effort, you should rather go for simple clean cut. The more it is going on, the more it can be difficult to style it. Simple lines that flatters your body shape will go a long way.
- Choose minimalist looking accessories, like these by Katyie Wu which you can easily combine, and they will go with most of the outfits.
On the pictures, I am wearing Club Monaco wrap cotton skirt with a bow detail on the side. I bought it few weeks back when I was in Chicago (you can read about my trip here). It is fully lined, which makes the skirt even more comfortable to wear. Beige skirts are easy to combine, and you can read more about what goes with them here.
This white simple t-shirt is from Uniqlo and cost £9.90! I am quite fussy when it comes to white t-shirts. Most of the ones I find I from very thin and cheap fabric, so after few rounds of washing machine they just look terrible and scruffy. This one is super soft and thick, and it holds it shape very well. They have them in many different colours, but I always prefer white, so I bought 3 of them. I teamed that with my favourite Castaner wedges, which you can read more about here. Beige looks amazing with blue so denim jacket and blue Louis Vuitton Chain It bag were my last pieces to add a bit of a colour.
So as you can see, this look can’t be more easy to create and you can wear it all day long. In the evening you can swap the t-shirt for more elegant top like this cami top and you are good to go. When the colder days surprise you, just throw on simple jumper, like this off white piece.
