Hotel review: Four Seasons Koh Samui Thailand

Hotel review: Four Seasons Koh Samui Thailand

After we were whisked away from the airport by the Four Seasons driver, we arrived to the most tranquil paradise in Gulf of Thailand. The Four Seasons Koh Samui is located about 30 min from the airport, at the north west of the island. We were greeted by the most delicious tropical fresh fruit and crisp cold towel soaked in lemongrass water while overlooking the most gorgeous view at the whole resort. Four Seasons Koh Samui villas

There are 60 one bedroom villas and 10 residences with two, three, four and five bedrooms. The whole resort in the very steep hill, so most of the villas enjoy an amazing view. Each villa has its private infinity pool and generous terrace, so if you really don’t feel like seeing other people, you can spend your day perfectly hidden in the privacy of your temporary home. When the golf buggy took us to our one bedroom villa, we were yet again smitten by our own view from the terrace. We can easily sped hours sitting on the terrace just staring to horizon. Inside we found large bedroom equipped with TV and work desk. Next room was a changing room with dressing table and two sinks. The last room was  a bathroom with shower and free standing bath tub that also had a gorgeous view.

Gourmet experience

I must admit, I am not much familiar with a Thai cousine, apart of the fact, it is very spicy. Or so I was told. There are sveral restaurant in the resort you can choose from. Apart of that, once a week the hotel organises BBQ on the beach and with live music and fire show, which is definitely nice to go to. On the beach there are also two other restaurant you can enjoy. Pla Pla is ideal for the lunch and nice dinner with the menu is a mixture of Thai and things like prawn tacos or crispy squid. CocoRum is another restaurant you can enjoy during the day while spending your time on the beach with the menu that is more Latin American.Restaurant at Four Seasons Koh SAmui Hotel pool at Four Seasons hotel Koh Samui

On the top of the hill and again with a magnificent view and beautiful sunsets is a Koh Thai Kitchen and Bar. Only after one dinner there, it immediately become my favourite. The food was exquisite even though I had to ask to have everything basically without chilli. Even the lightly or medium spicy was for me like a fire. My highlight was definitely pomelo salad with tiger prawns and also grilled tiger prawns with lemongrass. If you like coconut, you are definitely at the right place and things like coconut ice cream is a must. It is also a place where you can enjoy your breakfast or pre -dinner cocktails.

Romantic dinner for two

If you really want to indulge and create the most romantic evening, book a Once in a Blue Moon dinner for two on the beach. You can choose from three options of the menus. Traditional Thai, modern Thai or western cuisine. Since the food here is really amazing, I would recommend you the traditional Thai. You can also have the whole dinner paired with Thai wine, which really complemented the food. There is also an option of having rose petals on the beach, which increased the atmosphere.Once in a blue moon dinner Four Seasons Koh Samui Thailand

We did similar thing when we went to Maldives last year and decided that whenever we will have this opportunity, we will take it. It really is something you can hardly do in Europe. Just make sure you apply tons of mosquito spray and wear either no shoes or just flip flops. Also book this dinner as soon as you can. It is very popular so it makes sense to secure it soon. If you are not much of a beach person or it is already fully booked, try the private dinner in the Thai restaurant at the main restaurant. You will be dining in a private altan surrounded by candles and again rose petals. Honestly, I can’t imagine more romantic dinner then with candles, rose petals and a dramatic sunset.Romantic dinner for two at Four Seasons Koh Samui Sunset at Koh Samui Four Seasons hotel

Things to do

If pampering is your thing, book yourself for a treatment in a spa. Each treatment is in one of the private tree houses where you get by walking through the tranquil jungle garden. I chose relaxing massage with eucalyptus oil and it was one of the best massages I ever had. After that I felt like a new person and so relaxed, that I slept like a baby afterwards. If you are more into an action, you can go to the extensively equipped gym or book a yoga class. My highlight though, was a private class of a Muay Thai with a Muay Thai Champion. I was sore for few days after, but it was great experience and would recommend it to everyone.Gym at Four Seasons Koh SamuiSpa at Four Seasons Koh Samui

Overall stay

Four Seasons hotels for me are one of those, where you know you will have a good time no matter where in the world you are. They are always great. Some are better then others, but Four Seasons Koh Samui is, in my opinion, pretty much up there. The extremely warm and friendly staff makes you feel welcomed every day and the when you count in the physical beauty and gorgeous food, you get a little paradise.

If you have been there, please let me know you experience, as I would love to know your thoughts on the hotel. If you haven’t been yet, I would recommend you to put Four Seasons Koh Samui on the “places to visit” list.

Have a chic day

Petra
