The best of Chanel new collection summer 2018

Oh Chanel and their creations. Always on the top of their game, with no fail. I am always so excited to see what is new. And this Chanel new collection is as beautiful as ever. If you are a Chanel fan, then this post is for you. You know with some brands, you can have favourite designs, but with Chanel? You got to love them all, don’t you thing? And have you already seen the new cruise collection? Some of the pieces are so beautiful it would make your heart pump faster with excitement. OK they are eye wateringly expensive, but hey, it is Chanel.

I may say that every year, but I think this year Chanel new collection is one of the most beautiful overall. The colours are bright and interesting. For example some bags feature lime green colour with shimmering silver undertone. Salmon pink seems to be one of the top colour used across the whole collection with different levels of richness. However even this salmon pink has some undertones of orange and blue or green as well. It goes really well with most of the colours of anyone’s wardrobe (which is very good news right?).

This black jacket with gold top is ideal for your date night out.
There are trends and there are things that last no matter the year. That also applies to colour combinations. Do you remember the times when we all said “green and blue is good for a fool”? Or the same with pink and red or orange. And now? All these are considered amazing (God knows for how long). But there are colours that goes together like salt and pepper. Black and white for example, or black and gold. This season I am really into metallic and this black jacket with gold top is the one to go turn to when I go out.

The outfit I am wearing on the pictures is simple, but chic and elegant. Perfect for the dinner out. I am wearing the Sandro gold top. Now this top I bought about 8 years ago and I never ever worn it (not once) till this year. I don’t even know why. This year however it is one of my favourites. The trousers are from Liu:Jo and they are very comfortable. They are little bit like loose leggings. This year the stripes on the sides of the trousers are “in” so I get to wear them quite a bit.

The black jacket I bought recently in Madrid, when I went there for couple of days. I packed everything except jacket (or sweater) to wear for dinner. Thankfully Maje had this amazing double breasted piece (NOW ON 50% SALE HERE) so it was a quick purchase. Anyway, a dinner jacket was on my “shopping” list for a long time so it definitely was a win-win. And it fits like a glove. The boots. Oh these boots are one of my favourites. I also bought them in Madrid and they are from Pura Lopez. Her shoes are always stunning, elegant, great quality and at a good price. You can shop them online here (go for your true size). Classic Chanel bag was a great complement to the whole look.

This gold and black outfit is super easy to create. Black trousers and black jacket, gold top and lace up ankle boots. You can opt for either black or gold bag and you are good to go.

Year 2017, the end of the first year of full time blogging

It is the end of the year again and I can’t believe how fast it came. Year 2017 was a bit of rollecoaster, at least when it comes to my blog. There were highs and lows and I am grateful for both. For me, highlights are the moments which encourage and motivate me enormously to continue doing what I am doing. It is my reassurance i do something right. Of course there were not only highlights but also some setbacks and wrong decisions as well. Those were the moments of learning, evaluation and moving froward. Like the great song from Frank Sinatra says: “Each time when I find myself flat on my face, I pick myself up and get back in the race…” (That’s life, Frank Sinatra).

Blazer: Polo Ralph Lauren (similar here), Shirt: Ralph Lauren (similar here), Leggings pants: Ralph Lauren (similar here), Boots: L.K. Bennett (or similar here)

Year 2017 highlights

My biggest highlight of this year is that I could start blogging full time. And full time it really is. I am the photo editor, photographer (or work with one), model, writer, stylist, project manager, social media manager, PR, finance manager etc. So it is not as glamorous as it sounds. It a hard work, but the one that I am very passionate about. And I call it a luxury to be able to have a job that is my hobby as well. and it is you, my readers, that makes this all worth it. That is what motivates me and drives me further.

Year 2017 learning

Of course it is not only all fun and sometimes there are setbacks, but that’s fine. It is way how you deal with a setback that is important. I have for example realised that I spent a huge amount of money when I started blogging on things that were either not important or it were the results of bad decisions. I started this blog as purely designer handbags oriented under a different name and spent a lot of money on promotions. But then I realised i want this to be much more than just handbags. I changed the name, lost some followers, but that will not stop me to pursue what I want this to become. I spent a lot of money on the website development (it didn’t work and had technical issues on daily basis) only to later completely change it to a Pipdig theme.

So year later, I am still learning and that is also another thing I love. An I want to thank you for your ongoing support and looking forward to continuing this journey with you in 2018.

And if you are wandering why I am putting here pictures from Christmas, it is because it is the most wonderful time of the year and the perfect end of the year 2017.

wishing you all the best in 2018

love

How to wear a beret and look Parisian chic this season

Here is a question to you. What do you wear in the winter on your head when the temperatures sink to the levels you wish you can stay all day by the chimney? Do you wear an elegant hat? Maybe Ear mufs are your thing so that you don’t mess with your hair? A head band? Or a pompom hat? Have you ever tried a beret? No? Well if not, than you continue reading and here are some great tips how to choose one and wear it right and look chic.

Chic Journal Petra wears red beret from Zara

How to wear a red beret

How to style beret and look chic

Why you should get a beret and how to wear it

  1. If you wear it right (that means slightly on one side of the head), you will look chic. But choose it well. It is all about the right size and right colour for your skin tone.
  2. It is a great alternative to a classic hat.
  3. When you have just your hair done, the good thing about a beret is, that it lightly sits on your head, so it doesn’t mess up your hairdresser’s efforts.
  4. If you always wanted to channel your inner Parisienne girl, this is your chance. French girls have somehow mastered the skill of looking “chic with attitude” and they always look so effortlessly stylish. So this season there is nothing more simpler than to put this awesome piece of head cover on and show your sense of individual style.
  5. And because it is so trend right now. You can find all sorts of colours from simple black or maybe with a little extra details, like the one here? Or maybe you would like something brighter, like the one here or here? Even the most simple outfit will look more fun with a beret on your head.

Two best jackets for winter I am happy I bought

Generally speaking I love wearing coats in the winter, for one simple reason. They are long. But every year I am trying to find a great jacket, That I would like to wear instead of my everyday coat. My requirements are super simple. Warm enough to not to worry about wearing hundreds of layers and, of course, wearable on daily basis. So I was supper happy that this year, I found not one, but two jackets that I absolutely love and wear all the time. And they are also the top two trends when it comes to winter jackets this year.

Best jacket #1 – Silver jacket

  1. Silver jacket. Metallics are all over the place currently and this ear it also includes the jackets. I must say, I am in love with it. I bought my silver puff jacket in River Island, but you can find them in loads of high street shops right now. If you are not a big fun of silver, maybe gold is your colour? I saw an amazing gold puff jacket in Gap. The silver jacket I got is extremely light, comfortable and you can match it with pretty much everything. I love wearing it with lighter colours. White always looks great.

Jacket: River Island, Sweater: Uniqlo, Jeans: Zara (similar here and here), Boots: Office (similar here and here)

Best jacket #2 – Biker jacket

  1. Winter biker jacket. Everyone loves leather biker jackets, right? You probably have few of those in your wardrobe, but do you have one for the winter? This year they are such a hit and I am not at all surprised. It was probably my favourite buy this season. It looks amazing and it is very comfortable to wear and goodness me it is warm. Fully lined with shearling (faux) you are good to go even when the temperatures sink below zero. I got mine in all black, but love it so much that I just ordered one in cream. You can buy these in all sorts of colours and all sorts of price points from few thousands pounds like the Acne one or around 500 pounds like the ones here or below 100 pounds like the ones here and here.

Backpack: Gucci (similar here), Jacket: Zara (Similar here, here and here), Sweater: John Lewis (or similar here and here), Jeans: Zara (similar here), Boots: Minelli (or similar here), Hat: similar here
