My 3 rules for the day party bag

My 3 rules for the day party bag

I live in the UK so maybe it is just appropriate that I start lots of my articles by mentioning the weather. So now the weather is finally getting better, we are having some beautiful sunny days and that means that we are ready to start the planning of all sorts of parties. Some of them will be outside so we need to make sure you are ready to attend with the perfect bag. It is not easy to get dressed for the garden party. The rules can be a little bit unclear and you need to make sure you are not under dressed. You know what they say – there no such thing as being over dressed, it is just the others are under-dressed!

It can be particularly tricky with the shoes, as you hardly ever know if you will be walking over the grass or there will be a hard floor (very unlikely). So this time leave your heels at home and wear wedges and you will avoid sinking into the soil. Not only does it make you look shorter, but also will do your heels no good . Wear a nice dress. There are hundreds to chose from and I sure you have this sorted already.

Now the party bag. How to choose the perfect one? Here are my rules.

  1. Top handle (big enough for the wrist) or shoulder strap is ideal. We can assume you will be walking a lot around the garden, God know how many hours, probably most of the afternoon. You will need at least one hand free to greet new people and one hand to hold your drink. That means you need to have a bag that can be comfortably carried around without bothering you every time you shake someone’s hand.
  2. Don’t go overboard with the size. Take just the key things you will absolutely need and leave the less important at home. As the minimum I would expect phone (what would be a party without a selfie) maybe a bit of money (just in case) and your make-up touch-up essentials.
  3. If it is not a wedding, keep the glittery teeny tiny clutches for next time and rather look for something more fun or even extravagant – you can get away with it.

If you now look around it is almost like some brands are celebrating already with their bags having lots of flower embellishments. It is almost like they scream at you “you need me for the party” and here are my this year winners.
